It's no secret that the ladies of RNDM MIAMI love spoken word poetry. It's also no secret that we're always sure to represent ladies from everywhere and everywhere for our city so it is unbelievable exciting to share with you the details of the upcoming SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day: Spoken Soul Showcase!
Showcasing and uniting female warriors armed with paint brushes, microphones and camera lenses through advocacy and creativity.
The Spoken Soul Festival that celebrates SWAN DAY is actually a three day festival that focuses on Philanthropy, Community and Women Artists. This Friday, March 22, 2013 from 3pm - 6pm, the festival kicks off with SWAN Community Program which provides the production team, sponsors and featured artists an opportunity to give back to the community. This year's beneficiary is the Little Haiti Cultural Center's Arts After School program. The poetry art created by the young artists (grades K-8) at this event will be donated to Radio Lollipop for children affected by cancer throughout our community.
The (FREE!) Spoken Soul Showcase, taking place this Saturday from 6pm - 10pm at the Gibson Miami Showroom inside the Dorissa Building, will feature 12 women artists, their art, spoken word, music and general girl power awesomeness. What's not to love about that? This event is part of annual holiday during Women's History Month (which, we're right in the middle of by the way) and it is one of the several different events taking place around the world, all in support of female artists!
The closing event that takes place on Sunday, the Vanessa Baez Memorial Women's Brunch, celebrates everyday women with extraordinary courage. This intimate brunch will be hosted at Bal Harbour's Mister Collins restaurant. Tickets are available www.spokensoulfestival.com.

You're Invited!: The Heineken Mural Project
Winter is an evasive season for most but for us in the Magic City, it's more like invasive. The clear skied & beautiful, never-dropping-below-50-degree weather attracts more than a few new neighbors our way over the course of this season; one of which we feel never seems to stay long enough: Art Basel! For those of you unfamiliar, Art Basel is an international contemporary art exhibition that takes place yearly in both Basel, Switzerland as well as right here in Miami, FL. Even though the exhibition has been calling Miami its once yearly home since 2002, only in recent years have we been able to fully experience the explosion of culture surrounding the exhibition. The main art exhibition takes place inside the Miami Beach Convention Center on South Beach but due to the development of the Midtown, Design District and Wynwood Arts District areas (R.I.P. Mr. Goldman!), we've seen a rise in the number galleries housing both local and international artists, restaurants and boutiques. As a result of all this activity, Miami not only attracts bonafide art (both traditional and street) aficionados during this time but music buffs, fashion fans and all general members of the see-and-be-seen crowd. Long story short: there will be a ton of stuff to do, no matter what you're in to.
Art Basel Miami Beach takes place December 6-9, 2012. For more information on the Heineken Mural Project, please visit: www.remezcla.com/
We love Miami.
Those two facts are what led us to want to start this business. We wanted to contribute to the culture and city we love so much in any way we could. It's always love for those that feel the same way.
Enter Robert Bell (a.k.a. Bboy Fantum) and the event The Heart of the City.
The Heart of the City event was created to bring kids together through their love of the dance element of Hiip-Hop, otherwise known as 'breakdancing' or 'breakin'. This free (!) event provides gives kids the opportunity to chase their dance dreams without putting a strain on mom and dad's wallets. The goal is to be able to bring this event to every community in Florida and then have the participants spread their teachings and the love worldwide. In order to assist in this goal, a GoFundMe account has been created to help make the next installment of The Heart of the City possible. Click through the link below to find out what your donation will help bring to our community.
