Miami Graffiti

Photobucket

I am completly intruiged by any book that has to do with Miami. Relating to anything really..but I'm even more attracted when it has to do with our culture.

Thats why when I found out about the Miami Graffiti Book coming out, I was all over it.

The book was created by James and Karla Murray Photography. The book encompasses the graffiti culture of our city in ever way.

It dropped in europe already and its set to be out in the states in May.

If you are in the Miami Area and want to hear a discussion, watch a slide show and get your book signed by the artists, go to Books & Books on the Beach - 927 Lincoln Rd - MAY 7th at 8 PM.

This isnt the first book these artists drop. They are responsible for incredible photography in previous books like Broken Windows, Burning New York, Store Front, and now, Miami Graffiti. All the books are available on their website JamesandKarlamurray.com so make sure to get at them.

Respect.

Damn Trick...

While over here at RandumbMiami we don't spend too much time blastin that "dirty south music," there are a few artists that we hold dear to our heart. Especially those artists who that rep hard for this city we love to call home. I can remember as a middle schooler jammin to Trick Daddy and being so proud everytime I heard him say something about Miami on the radio.

"Nann Nigga" & "I'm a Thug" are my guilty GUILTY pleasures.

This morning, Trick announced some sad news on the Ricky Smiley morning show (broadcast on 99 Jamz) while promoting his autobiography Magic City: Trials of a Native Son. He revealed that he's been suffering from Lupus, an incurable autoimmune disease, which makes the immune system attacks the body’s cells and tissue, for 12 years! As occurs in other autoimmune diseases, the immune system attacks the body’s cells and tissue, resulting in inflammation and tissue damage. most often harms the heart, joints, skin, lungs, blood vessels, liver, kidneys, and nervous system.

“I went to the doctor like 12 years ago. He took all kinds of tests, because I was trying to get rid of what we call dry skin, she did biopsies and blood tests and swab tests. She told me I have lupus. I am allergic highly to the sun, that’s my worst enemy. It’s like an AK-47 with a double clip on it. I could jeopardize kidney and liver failure from the treatment and the medication.”

Regardless of this potentially fatal disease, Trick (born Maurice Young) sounded confident and even at peace with his condition. “I’m the type of person, I came from so far of a struggle that it don’t matter to me, I learned to turn my downsides into jokes and get around it,” he expressed. “My mama had eleven children from ten different men if she is strong enough to live with that I know I could live with this.”

Lupus already took away Dilla...

We wish Trick the best.

MORE OF NY

Our NY was brief. So brief that 3 days later we felt like we had just arrived & it seemed almost impossible that we were already going home. We had a lot of fun & although it didn't go as planned, we learned a lot about this business. Catch pictures of our adventures & just RANDUMB shots around the boroughs after the jump.
