Quote of the Day

"Sometimes when you win, you really lose, and sometimes when you lose, you really win, and sometimes when you win or lose, you actually tie, and sometimes when you tie, you actually win or lose. Winning or losing is all one organic mechanism, from which one extracts what one needs."

Fuerza Bruta

It's hard to describe what Fuerza Bruta is all about. It's one of those things you have to be there to experience. We were lucky enough to catch the show at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Downtown on Saturday & it was just UN-BE-LIE-VABLE. After a while, you kind of don't know what you're staring at but it overflows with so much beauty that have absolutely no desire to look away.

(description via Fuerzabruta)

"[...]It is a phenomenon natural and inevitable. The result of millions of years.
It has it's origin in the depths of the ocean, in the bottom of glasses,
in a walk down the street.

Fuerzabruta doesn't have a purpose. It just is."

Check out our photos from the show below.

I can see your HALO

To all my graff artists and wannabes.

For those who actually get up, and circumstances just don't allow you to go out (though usually those circumstances are slim to none) or you really want to become an artist but don't like the fact that you must evade police to get up in the streets, Found something for ya.

Light Writing.

Not writing you do lightly but literal writing with light.

Knowledge. Its called "Halo".

You'll need the correct lighting to be able to do this, but with the right tools, shake your can to energize, change caps to different colors, and start gettin up.

The Ecstatic Tour - Mos Def & Jay Electronica

So, you all should know my love affair with the man, the entertainer, the proliferator of HIP HOP culture that is the Mighty Mos Def. And while I am disappointed that the Talib Kweli & Erykah Badu will not be joining him on stage for this leg of the tour, Jay Electronica, a promising emcee signed to Badu's record label, shall be joining Flaco Bay as he pays us a visit in the 305.

The live performance will take place at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Downtown Miami on August 15th. I've never heard of any other hip hop event that's ever been held there (unless you want to count Lil Wayne's attendance to Fuerza Bruta). Be part of history! You already know where I'm going to be!
